BIOGRAPHY:
Dr. Ibrahim El-Sherbiny is currently working as an associate professor at Department of Nanomaterials Science, University of Science and Technology. He completed his PhD Chemistry/ Drug Delivery, Massey University, IFS, Palmerstone North (2004-7). He received Venice Kamel Award for Scientific Creativity for Young Researchers in the field of Materials Science and its Applications (2013). He is a member in many societies and he has 7 patents. He published various articles in international journals.
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Dr. Ibrahim El-Sherbiny research is mainly focused on Smart biodegradable hydrogel nano-structures as scaffolds for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, Eco-friendly electrochemical synthesis, characterization, and in vitro evaluation of natural polymers-metals hybrid nanoparticles for enhanced therapeutic activity, Preparation of smart magnetically-responsive nanoparticles for drug delivery and biomedical applications, Development and in-vitro assessment of novel respirable nano-in-micro carriers with adequate aerodynamic characteristics that can confer sustained drug release in the lung, Synthesis of new amphiphilic polymer derivatives for development of self-assembled nanoparticles for intracellular gene delivery (current focus: siRNA, miRNA delivery to the lung).
