BIOGRAPHY:
Dr. Martin Michaelis is presently working as a Professor and Chair of Molecular Medicine Department at Centre for Molecular Processing and School of Biosciences, University of Kent, United Kingdom. He joined the School of Biosciences at University of Kent in July 2011 and he is also a member of the Cell Biology, Cancer Targets and Therapies Group. He acted as a Deputy Head of the Department for Paediatric Tumour and Virus Research and he is a board member of Dr. Petra Joh Research Institute, Germany and Deputy Head (BAT Ia) of Experimental Virology Department at Institute for Medical Virology in Clinics of the Goethe-University, Germany. He is a Co-founder and CEO of the blue-drugs GmbH which is in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. He has published almost 100 research articles under his name, presented various abstracts in many International Conferences and published two book chapters.
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Dr. Martin Michaelis research interests include the investigation of a broad range of drugs in cell biology models from the fields of oncology, virology, immunology, and angiogenesis. He is mostly interested in the investigation of antiviral drugs and in studying the effects of viruses (particularly human cytomegalovirus and influenza virus) on the host cell biology and interested in the influence of chemoresistance development on cancer cell biology.
